ARTIST STATEMENT

As a visual surreal expressionist artist, art serves as my gateway to another world, a world where dreams are reality and I dive deep into the shadow of my subconscious dancing between realization and denial. Embracing the captivating world of surrealism and using my vivid imagination to create artwork that transports the viewer to a realm of unlimited possibilities, I allow myself that freedom I find necessary to cope with the absurdities of every day (so called normal) life. For me, art is a powerful tool for self-expression and exploration. Through my artwork, I delve deep into the labyrinth of my mind and explore my shadow self, with its desires and fears. Each brush or pencil stroke on the canvas exposes a piece of my own identity, allowing me to unleash my innermost thoughts in a visually courageous way. Surreal elements acting as visual metaphors, are a means to lead us into unkown territories and question the boundaries of my own perception and challenge. I aim to inspire in each viewer a sense of wonder and curiosity about the mysteries of existence, be curious and courageous.

Symbolism plays an important role in my work as it transcends language and speaks directly to the subconscious. The inclusion of recurring symbols (just watch out for them) invites the viewer to interpret my work through their own experiences and feelings.

With each stroke or line, I want to convey a story, message or feeling that speaks to you, the viewer of my art on a deep level. Whether it is the longing for freedom, the search for personal identity, or the complexity of human relationships, through my artwork I seek to address the importance of awareness and evoke a range of emotions.

I find the freedom to deviate from traditional artistic boundaries liberating. I refuse to depict reality as it appears, preferring instead to portray the world as I perceive it through the lens of my imagination. This artistic approach allows me to bridge the gap between the conscious and the subconscious, allowing my viewers to immerse themselves in their own dreams and inner realities.

In the realm of surrealism, my artistic voice is free, without the constraints of logic or rationality. It is my goal to evoke in my viewer a sense of wonder, curiosity and self-reflection. With each new creation, I dive deeper, exploring the vastness of the human experience and revealing fragments of the extraordinary and exceeding the mundane.
